Prevention maintenance for people!

Basic Physical - Get into the healthy habit of a yearly physical. Regular physicals may help detect disease early, maintain health and offer education. Routine exams should include an urinalysis and blood pressure and blood tests. If you have a pre-existing health condition, see you healthcare provider as often as suggested.

Colorectal Cancer Screening - Generally recommended annualy after age 50. People with family history may need to be screened earlier. Early stages of colorectal cancer rarely shows symptoms, but this stage is most treatable.

Vision - Everyone should have a regular eye exam at least every 2 years regardless of whether you are having a noticeable vision problem.

Dental - Preventive dental care should consist of daily brushing and flossing and dentist visits with professional cleanings every 6 months.


Men

  • Prostate Screening- Every man over age 50 should have a Digital Rectal Exam and a Prostate Specific Antigen Test (PSA) annually.

  • Testicular Exam- Annualy starting at adulthood with a professional and monthly self exams. A monthly self-exam helps to familiarize you with how your testicles normally look and feel.
Women

  • Gynecological Exam- Be sure to have a yearly exam that includes a pelvic exam, breast exam and PAP test.

  • Breast Exam- Have a professional exam every year along with monthly self-exams.
    A monthly self-exam helps to familiarize you with how your breasts look and feel.

  • Mammogram- Have a mammogram yearly after 40 or earlier if risk factors are present. Mammograms help to save lives by aiding in the early detection of breast cancer.

It is important that you keep complete records for all of your family in a safe, easily accessible place. Along with emergency phone numbers you should maintain records with the following information.

  1. Phone numbers- for all your family's doctors, pharmacists, and poison control.

  2. Family history of conditions or diseases

  3. Vitals- blood type, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, immunization records.

  4. Gynecological and pregnancy records

  5. Hospital admissions and surgeries

  6. Medical histories- problems and treatments.

  7. Listing of all vision and hearing test- dates and their results.

  8. Accurate list of all medications- including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and dietary supplements.

  9. Allergies to drugs, foods, environmental elements
