Vitamins are essential nutrients required in small amounts to perform specific functions that promote health. Vitamins are fragile and may be destroyed by prolonged cooking or poor storage of foods.


There are basically 2 types of vitamins

•  Water-soluble vitamins are absorbed directly into the blood stream, they circulate through the body in water-filled areas, excess amounts are excreted from the body and must be replenished regularly.

  Fat-soluble vitamins transport through the body via the lymph system then to the blood, stored in the liver and fat cells throughout the body and are less likely to be excreted from the body.



Fat Soluble

Vitamin A -A fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for eye health and normal vision. Recommended daily value 5000 IU.

Vitamin D -Enhances calcium absorption and is necessary for healthy teeth and bones. Recommended daily value 400 IU.

Vitamin E -Daily supplementation with Vitamin E provides dietary support for healthy heart, lung, prostate and digestive tract function. Recommended daily value 30 IU.

Vitamin K -Necessary for blood clotting. Recommended daily value 80 mcg.



Water Soluble

B Vitamins This group of eight nutrients is found in many popular foods like whole grains, meats, dairy products, legumes and some type of fish. Many people may not get adequate amounts of B vitamins in their diets, especially those who don't eat well, the ederly and those who consume large amounts of alcohol.

Vitamin B1 -A water-soluble vitamin that plays a role in energy metabolism. Recommended daily value 1.5 mg.

Vitamin B2 -Works with several enzymes in the metabolism of fat, carbohydrates & Proteins and is essential to energy production. Recommended daily value 1.7 mg.

Niacin -Also known as Vitamin B3 provides dietary support for a healthy blood lipid profile. Recommended daily value 20 mg.

Pantothenic Acid -Often referred to as Vitamin B5, is essential to metabolic processes in the body. Recommended daily value 10 mg.

Vitamin B6, B12 and Folic Acid -Provides dietary support for your cardiovascular system.

Folic Acid -Adequate folate in healthful diets may reduce a woman's risk of having a child with a brain or spinal cord defect. Recommended daily value 400 mcg.

Vitamin B12 -May play a role in the maintenance of normal homocysteine levels. Recommended daily value 6 mcg.

Vitamin C -Helps protect against free radical damage, is necessary for iron absorption and is essential for healthy bones, teeth, blood vessels, and collagen. Recommended daily value 60 mg.
