Toxins have become a daily part of our existence

In todays world, it is very difficult to be toxic free. We all live in a toxic environment. No matter where we live on the planet or how careful we are, we can't avoid toxins. They are in the foods we eat, the homes we live in, the water we drink and bathe in and even in the air we breathe. So what exactly is a toxin? A toxic substance is something that is harmful to the body. When they enter into our bodies, they are known as free radicals.

Free radicals
Free radicals are produced naturally in our bodies when our cells create energy. They are also created unnaturally when we are exposed to toxins such as cigarette smoke, alcohol or pesticides. Free radicals can cause damage to the body's cells. Cells are in every part of our body, so ulitmately, our entire bodies health is effected by free radicals. Red blood cells, immune system cells, skin cells, stomache cells, etc.  And because of this, free radical damage (or oxidation) has been linked to the formation of every degenerative disease known including cancer, cardiovascular disease, cataracts and the ageing process itself.

What is a free radical
Every molecule or atom has a certain number of electrons on the outside of its shell. They are called a stable molecule. Free radicals, on the other hand, are unstable, chemically incomplete substances that ‘steal’ electrons from stable molecules. They are highly reactive. As an unstable molecule, it " damages stable molecules by stealing an electron for itself, creating other unstable molecules. Once in the body, free radicals can damage tissues and delicate cell membranes. They can also damage DNA, disrupting our store of inherited information; this may lead to the initiation of certain cancers. Medical scientists believe that free radicals also contribute to at least fifty other major diseases including atherosclerosis, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and lung disease. They may even accelerate the ageing process.

Some of the short- and long-term effects of these free radicals may include:

          • Neurological disorders
            • Cancer
            • Enzyme dysfunction
            • Altered metabolism
            • Reproductive disorders
            • Fatigue
            • Headaches
            • Obesity
            • Muscle and vision problems
            • Immune system depression
            • Allergies/Asthma
            • Endocrine disorders
            • Chronic viral infections
            • Less ability to tolerate/handle stress
            • Nutritional deficiencies
            • Hormonal imbalances

Free radicals are a cause of premature aging
Free radical damage mutates the body's future DNA and RNA cell blueprint message by stealing the electrons in the DNA chains, ultimately leading to cellular electronic imbalance. Inevitable breakdown of the DNA and RNA blueprint will occur as mutated cells replicate. How does this lead to aging? Our cells are constantly reproducing. Each time a cell reproduces, unless it is able to create a cell exactly like itself, the new "daughter" cell is slightly inferior to the parent cell. This is a natural aging process. However, when these cells are damaged by free radicals, this process of breakdown of the next generation of cells is accelerated. With the increasing damage to the cells, the breakdown of the DNA, unless there is something there to stop this damage from occurring, it will cause your body to age faster. These molecules lead a mega chain reaction both inside and out. Inside is the silent destruction that manifests itself as neuro- degenerative disease, cancer, and coronary heart disease among others. On the outside we see subtle changes in appearance of the skin; discoloration, loss of elasticity and wrinkles, the signs of aging.

In other cases, excess free radical damage can cause DNA messages to accelerate the cell division process into a state of panic whereby DNA are unable to withstand the rate of degeneration - this is cancer.

Removing the harmful toxins before the healing can begin
Our bodies were designed with 7 channels of elimination (Lungs, Liver, Skin, Kidneys, Colon, Lymph, and Blood) to cleanse toxins out of our system. When our systems become overloaded with toxins, our bodies are forced to store these toxins somewhere because there are too many for the body to handle. The chemicals that our bodies are so desperate to get rid of get stored in our cells (usually our fat cells). Now our cells are not able to function the way they are supposed to function. Our immune system becomes weak, there are breakdowns of communication within the nervous system, our endocrine system becomes out of balance, our digestive system becomes sluggish, etc. This is why many people are now learning about ways to detoxify the body. Yes, free radicals are stored within the body. To improve your over all wellness, either now or for prevention in the future, detoxification is an extremely beneficial thing to do for your body.
